So you would like to interview me? God asked.

او از من پرسید :آیا مایلی از من چیزی بپرسی؟

If you have the time? I said.

گفتم ....اگر وقت داشته باشید....

God smiled:My time is eternity.

لبخندی زد و گفت: زمان برای من تا بی نهایت ادامه دارد

What questions do you have in mind for me?

چه پرسشی در ذهن تو برای من هست؟

What surprises you most about humankind?

پرسیدم: چه چیزی در رفتار انسان ها هست که شما را شگفت زده  می کند؟

God answered...

پاسخ داد:

That they get bored with childhood,

آدم ها از بچه بودن خسته می شوند ...

they rush to grow up, and then

عجله دارند بزرگ شوند و سپس.....

long to be children again.

آرزو دارند دوباره به دوران کودکی باز گردند

That they lose their health to make money...

سلامتی خود را در راه کسب ثروت از دست می دهند

and then lose their money to restore their health.

و سپس ثروت خود را در راه کسب سلامتی دوباره از صرف می کنند....

That by thinking anxiously about the future,

چنان با هیجان به آینده فکر می کنند.

they forget the present,

که از حال غافل می شوند

such that they live in neither the present nor the future.

به طوری که نه در حال زندگی می کنند نه در آینده

"That they live as if they will never die,

آن ها طوری زندگی می کنند.،انگار هیچ وقت نمی میرند

and die as though they had never lived.

و جوری می میرند ....انگار هیچ وقت زنده نبودند

we were silent for a while.

ما برای لحظاتی سکوت کردیم

And then I asked.

سپس من پرسیدم..

As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children to learn

مانند یک پدر کدام درس زندگی را مایل هستی که فرزندانت بیاموزند؟

To learn they cannot make anyone love them.

پاسخ داد:یاد بگیرند که نمیتوانند دیگران را مجبور کنند که دوستشان داشته باشند

All they can do

ولی می توانند

is let themselves be loved.

طوری رفتار کنند که مورد عشق و علاقه دیگران باشند

To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.

یاد بگیرند که خود را با دیگران مقایسه نکنند

To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.

یاد بگیرند ...دیگران را ببخشند با عادت کردن به بخشندگی

To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love,

یاد بگیرند تنها چند ثانیه طول می کشد تا زخمی در قلب کسی که دوستش دارید ایجاد کنید

and it can take many years to heal them.

ولی سال ها طول می کشد تا آن جراحت را التیام بخشید

To learn that a rich person

یاد بگیرند یک انسان ثروتمند کسی نیست که دارایی زیادی دارد

is not one who has the most,but is one who needs the least

بلکه کسی هست که کمترین نیازوخواسته را دارد

To learn that there are people who love them dearly,

یاد بگیرند کسانی هستند که آن ها را از صمیم قلب دوست دارند

but simply have not yet learned  how to express or show their feelings.

ولی نمیدانند چگونه احساس خود را بروز دهند

To learn that two people can

یاد بگیرند وبدانند ..دونفر می توانند  به یک چیز نگاه کنند

look at the same thing and see it differently?

ولی برداشت آن ها متفاوت باشد

To learn that it is not enough that they

یاد بگیرند کافی نیست که تنها دیگران را ببخشند

forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.

بلکه انسان ها باید قادر به بخشش و عفو خود نیز باشند

"Thank you for your time," I said

سپس من از خدا تشکر کردم و گفتم

"Is there anything else you would like your children to know"

آیا چیز دیگری هم وجود دارد  که مایل باشی فرزندانت بدانند؟

God smiled and said,Just know that I am here... always.

خداوند لبخندی زد و پاسخ داد: فقط این که بدانند من این جا و با آن ها هستم..........برای همیشه

Peacock and Tortoise story

 The Peacock and the Tortoise

ONCE upon a time a peacock and a tortoise became great friends. The peacock lived on a tree by the banks of the stream in which the tortoise had his home. Everyday, after he had a drink of water, the peacock will dance near the stream to the amusement of his tortoise friend.
One unfortunate day, a bird-catcher caught the peacock and was about to take him away to the market. The unhappy bird begged his captor to allow him to bid his friend, the tortoise good-bye.
The bird-catcher allowed him his request and took him to the tortoise. The tortoise was greatly disturbed to see his friend a captive.
The tortoise asked the bird-catcher to let the peacock go in return for an expensive present. The bird-catcher agreed. The tortoise then, dived into the water and in a few seconds came up with a handsome pearl, to the great astonishment of the bird-catcher. As this was beyond his exceptions, he let the peacock go immediately.
A short time after, the greedy man came back and told the tortoise that he had not paid enough for the release of his friend, and threatened to catch the peacock again unless an exact match of the pearl is given to him. The tortoise, who had already advised his friend, the peacock, to leave the place to a distant jungle upon being set free, was greatly enraged at the greed of this man.
“Well,” said the tortoise, “if you insist on having another pearl like it, give it to me and I will fish you out an exact match for it.” Due to his greed, the bird-catcher gave the pearl to the tortoise, who swam away with it saying, “I am no fool to take one and give two!” The tortoise then disappeared into the water, leaving the bird-catcher without a single pearl.

طاووس و لاک پشت

روزی روزگاری،طاووس و لاک پشتی بودن که دوستای خوبی برای هم بودن.طاووس نزدیک درخت کنار رودی که لاک پشت زندگی می کرد، خونه داشت.. هر روز پس از اینکه طاووس نزدیک رودخانه آبی می خورد ، برای سرگرم کردن دوستش می رقصید.
یک روز بدشانس، یک شکارچی پرنده، طاووس را به دام انداخت و خواست که اونو به بازار ببره. پرنده غمگین، از شکارچی اش خواهش کرد که بهش اجازه بده  از لاک پشت خداحافظی کنه.
شکارچی خواهش طاووس رو قبول کرد و اونو پیش لاک پشت برد. لاک پشت از این که میدید دوستش اسیر شده خیلی ناراحت شد.اون از شکارچی خواهش کرد که طاووس رو در عوض دادن هدیه ای باارزش رها کنه. شکارچی قبول کرد.بعد، لاکپشت داخل آب شیرجه زد و بعد از لحظه ای با مرواریدی زیبا بیرون اومد. شکارچی که از دیدن این کار لاک پشت متحیر شده بود فوری اجازه داد که طاووس بره. مدت کوتاهی بعد از این ماجرا، مرد حریص برگشت و به لاک پشت گفت که برای آزادی پرنده ، چیز کمی گرفته و تهدید کرد که دوباره طاووس رو اسیر میکنه مگه اینکه مروارید دیگه ای شبیه مروارید قبلی بگیره. لاک پشت که قبلا به دوستش نصیحت کرده بود برای آزاد بودن ، به جنگل دوردستی بره ،خیلی از دست مرد حریص، عصبانی شد.
لاک پشت گفت:بسیار خوب، اگه اصرار داری مروارید دیگه ای شبیه قبلی داشته باشی، مروارید رو به من بده تا عین اونو برات پیدا کنم. شکارچی به خاطر طمعش ،مروارید رو به لاک پشت داد. لاک پشت درحالیکه با شنا کردن از مرد دور می شد گفت: من نادان نیستم که یکی بگیرم و دوتا بدم. بعد بدون اینکه حتی یه مروارید به شکارجی بده، در آب ناپدید شد.

There were a lot of mice in a house. The man of the house got a cat. The cat killed many of the mice. Then the oldest mouse said:"All mice must come to my hole tonight, and we will think what we can do about this cat."

All the mice came. Many mice spoke , but none knew what to do. At last a young mouse stood up and said:" We must put a bell on the cat. Then , when the cat comes near, we'll hear the bell and run away and hide. So the cat will never catch any more mice."

Then the old mouse asked :" Who will put the bell on the cat?" No mouse answered. He waited, but still no one answered. At last he said:"It is not hard to say things, but it is harder to do them."

گربه و زنگوله

موش های زیادی در خانه بودند. صاحب خانه گربه ای را آورد. گربه شمار زیادی از موش ها را کشت.

سپس موش پیر گفت: تمام موش ها باید امشب به خانه ی من بیایند تا ما فکر کنیم که برای این گربه

چه کار بکنیم. خیلی از موش ها آمدند. خیلی از موش ها حرف می زدند اما هیچ کدام نمی دانستند که باید چه کار بکنند. سرانجام موش جوانی ایستاد و گفت: ما باید زنگوله ای روی گربه بگذاریم سپس وقتی که گربه به ما نزدیک می شود ما صدای زنگ رو می شنویم و فرار می کنیم و خودمان را مخفی می کنیم. بنابراین گربه نمی تواند هیچ موشی را بگیرد. سپس موش پیر پرسید: چه کسی زنگوله را روی گربه قرار خواهد داد؟ هیچ موشی جواب نداد.  صبر کرد اما هنوز هیچ کس جواب نداد. سرانجام او گفت: این سخت نیست که چیزی را بگوییم اما سخت تر این است که این کار را انجام بدهیم.

another doctor

When Dave Perkins was young, he played a lot of games, and he was thin and strong, but when he was forty-five, he began to get fat and slow. He was not able to breathe as well as before, and when he walked rather fast, his heart beat painfully.

He did not do anything about this for a long time, but finally he became anxious and went to see a doctor, and the doctor sent him to hospital. Another young doctor examined him there and said, 'I don't want to mislead you, Mr Perkins. You're very ill, and I believe that you are unlikely to live much longer. Would you like me to arrange for anybody to come and see you before you die?'

Dave thought for a few seconds and then he answered, 'I'd like another doctor to come and see me.'

هنگامی که دیو پرکینس جوان بود، او خیلی ورزش می‌کرد، و لاغر و قوی بود، اما هنگامی که چهل و پنج ساله شد، شروع به چاق شدن و تنبل شدن کرد. او قادر به نفس کشیدن مانند قبل نبود، و هنگامی که مقداری تندتر حرکت می‌کرد، ضربان قلبش به سختی می‌زد.

او برای مدت طولانی در این باره کاری نکرد، اما در آخر نگران شد و به دیدن یک دکتر رفت، و دکتر او را به یک بیمارستان فرستاد. دکتر جوان دیگری او را در آنجا معاینه کرد و گفت: آقای پرکینس من نمی‌خواهم شما را فریب دهم. شما بسیار بیمار هستید، و من معتقدم که بعید است شما مدت زمان زیادی زنده بمانید. آیا مایل هستید ترتیبی بدهم قبل از اینکه شما بمیرید کسی به ملاقات شما بیاید؟

دیو برای چند ثانیه فکر کرد و سپس پاسخ داد، مایلم تا یک دکتر دیگر بیاید و مرا ببیند.
